March 2008; I welcomed Beau into my home. He learned most of his commands and had fun being socialized and seeing new things.
April 2008; We did school, Beau grew more, and learned more.
May 2008; Beau got to go to his first parade and he did great! I left Beau with my Mom for two weeks while I was visiting my cousins. Our pet dog Justin also died. :(
June 2008; We finished school and enjoyed the start of our summer.
July 2008; Beau got his puppy coat and enjoyed his first 4th of July. We also started a “Reading with Dogs” program at the local library.
August 2008; We started school again and Beau continued to grow. September 2008; Beau started to come to church with me!!!! :)
October 2008; Beau had another Walk and Talk and he did outstanding. :) We also went to the annual GEB Walk-A-Thon and had a blast!!! I even got to meet his dad Alex and his Uncle Alfie!
November 2008; Beau celebrated his first Thanksgiving! And we watched my aunt's dog, Rosie, for the whole month.
December 2008; We celebrated Christmas and we got to watch a guide dog from Guide Dogs for the Blind. Her name was Jolene and she and Beau had a great time together!
January 2009; Beau turned the big ONE! He got to have his guide dog buddy Jolene over for a while and he just had fun growing and learning more.
February 2009; Beau had his final Walk 'n' Talk. He came with me to the barn sometimes, but it was awfully cold so he didn't come much. Beau turned 13 months.
March 2009; Beau and I competed in County presentations at the 4-H office. Beau turned 14 months.
April 2009; Beau and I competed at District presentations and achieved a high enough score to go to State presentations. I was awarded the "Youth Citizen of the Year" award and Beau and I to go to a special dinner for my award. Beau turned 15 months.
May 2009; Beau and I got to be in a parade for the award I got and we had a booth for GEB. My new puppy was born on the 15th Beau turned 16 months old.
June 2009; Beau and I did our end of the year testing and Beau did outstanding. :) I got to help at both Walk 'n' Talks and we got to go to GEB for a graduation that reminded me why I raise for GEB. Beau turned 17 months old.
July 2009; My last month with Beau. We had my first horse show which Beau did amazing at. Beau and I welcomed little Dahlia into our home for the last week I had Beau. Beau turned 18 months and Dahlia turned 2 months old.
August 2009; I said goodbye to my first "dog" that I could call my "own" (even though "my" dog was really GEB's dog). It was so hard to do, but so worth it to see my boy pass his IFT and go on to be matched with a trainer.
