Well, in just 10 days I will be heading to GEB for my first real internship!! :) I just got my schedule for what I will be doing and I can't wait to do it!! :) It is subject to change, but right now here is what it is. :)
Every day I will feed the pups and the adult breed and breed eval dogs, clean the kennels, take the dogs up to the Big Dog Area, feed the puppies and clean their papers and give them water, work with the staff and adult dogs do checkovers kennel chores and do stuff in the big room with the puppies, and then feed the adults again in the afternoon and clean the runs. :) Then on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday I get to do socialization with different litters of puppies. Also, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday I have level training. And on Tuesday and Thursday I have stuff with the breed eval dogs too. I can't wait!!! :)

December fun # 1
Hello!
Well, the month of Decemeber is fully underway! And the fun is just starting!!!!! On the 6th our region had their annual Christmas party! It was a ton of fun and Whitley got some fun toys!!! :D
Then on the 10th (Friday night) we went to a school play. It was Annie and Whitley did pretty good! She slept through pretty much the whole thing and her only problems were that she pulled some on the way in and she sniffed some as we were leaving, but other then that she was great!
On the 11th we went to my friend's voice recital and again Whitley was amazing!!!!
I've been watching a golden named Narissa (she is 9 months old) since last Wednesday and I took her to pre-placement class Wednesday night and then Thursday she came into heat.... so then I couldn't take her anywhere..... but she's been playing a lot with Whitley so she's still having fun. She leaves today. Yesterday I started watching a pet dog named Jack. He is about 8 years old. He will be here until next Saturday.
I don't have any pictures because I can't download my camera.... :/ hopefully I can for the next post! Bye!

Internship/Volunteering!
When I was at GEB for Dahlia's IFT I got to volunteer and one of the workers said to me that if I wanted to I could come to volunteer for a longer period of time sometime. So after emailing back and forth with her I then got in touch with the Kennel Manager and I will be going to the GEB Canine Devolopment Center January 9th, 2011-January 16th, 2011!!! I'm SOOOO excited!!! Whitley gets to come too and I'm going to get to meet her brother Woodruff and his raiser and see a lot of friends! And also, I'll get to meet Beau's (my 1st pup) sister, Babe who is a brood for GEB! And I'm going to see Mia, a golden I did a switch with when I had Dahlia and that's when I fell in love with goldens. She is also a brood now so I'm excited to see her too! :D

On the 29th we had puppy class in the M. Region (my region). We were in the Puppy Group (this was our last week) and we talked about house manners and holiday hazzards. Whitley settled pretty well. She is SUCH an easy going dog!!!! Pacer and his raiser rode to class with us. :)
On the 30th we had puppy class in the G. Region (my friend's region). We went to a local mall to soialize and have the G. Region pups pictures with Santa. Whitley was great with all the people and she did pretty good on her sit stay for the Santa picture. :) Enjoy the pictures above!

Whitley had a great thanksgiving! She started out the day by playing with my aunt's dog Cori. :) Then we went to my sisters' boyfriends house for supper. November #2 - OCC shopping!

Every year we participate in Operation Christmas Child which is where you buy things and pack them into a shoe box. :) You buy toys, tooth brush, tooth paste, soap, wash cloth, candy, school supplies, and other fun things! After you pack the box it gets shipped to another place and then shipped to kids in third world countries and they get a Christmas box and learn about Jesus. :) anyway, Whitley came shopping with us and did really good. She had some trouble at one store, but other then that she did great!!!!! The 1st picture is of her sleeping after a full day of shopping and the second on is of her at a store. :)

Update post #1 - random October things

Whitley at the horse barn
In October on the 13th we went to a library dinner for our local libraries. Whitley did amazing for her age! She slept through most of it, then I took her outside to "GB", and then we came back inside and she hung out for the rest of the time. :)
**picture #4**
On the 16th we went to one of my sister's XC meets and she did pretty good. It was at the this park with lots of smells, people, kids, and other dogs so I didn't make her "work" too much since she was so little and it was a lot of work. At that meet she also got to meet one of my aunt and cousins. :)
**picture #3**
On the 19th we did three huge things, and Gabriel (another GEB pup who was 13 months) came to us for a 2 week long puppy sit. First we had a Disability Awareness Day at a local school. Whitley was there, so was Gabriel, and then retired guide Flame also came. :) After that we went to a tourist spot in the city closest to me and walked Gabe and Whit around. It's a great place to socialize because there is lots of city traffic, blowing leaves :), different underfootings, and this look out that is like 3 stories off the ground! Gabe did pretty good, he is a little nervous of certain stairs, but he still did great. Whit did wonderful!!!!!! Well, except for chasing the leaves. ;) After that we got supper and then we went to a volleyball game with a fellow puppy raiser and her dog, Yolanda.

It's been a while.....
Well, I didn't mean to wait this long to post again....... but my life has been really busy with school, puppy raising, work, going to the barn, and doing other GEB stuff. Not that I'm complining, I love doing all this stuff!
Anyway, Dahlia was dropped from Breed Eval due to a double ear infection she had a few months before she went in for IFT. Now she is in Training. :) I was a litle bummed about her being dropped, but not too bad because I'm excited to start getting TR's again and hopefully see her graduation in April. :) Halsa is still with a sitter and she goes to her finisher raiser on weekends. I think she will be with her finisher raiser 7 days a week at the end of October. I've gotten to see her a few times lately and she is so big now. I love her lots. :) She turns 5 months on the 11th. Whitley is such a good puppy. Her only problem is she isn't very food motivated..... which makes training sometimes hard, but it also makes me have to work harder which is sometimes more fun. :) She just turned 3 months on the 6th. Whitley is at a sitter's house this weekend because I had my wisdom teeth out yesterday and my Mom couldn't watch her due to work so she is with an applicant and hopefully she is being a good girl. :)
IFT for October was this past Tuesday and Dahlia's siblings Dreyfus, Dan, Dottie, and Dudley all passed and are now in training. :) Dewey, Ditto, and Dee go in for IFT in November.
That's it! I was going to uplod pictures, but it isn't working so good so next time I will. Bye for now!!

I messed up...
Welll...... I wrote this good bye post for Dahlia and Halsa on August 29th and I saved it and then posted in on September 4th, but..... it didn't post it at the top like I thought it would, it posted it when I wrote it.... sooooo be sure to read it!!!! http://tailsoftheirjourney.blogspot.com/2010/08/good-bye-my-sweet-girl.html
Dahlia's IFT and Whitley!
Dahlia did amazing at her IFT! I was soooo proud of her! She did pick up the stuffed animals, but other then that she was SOOOO focused on the handler!!! She listened to almost all of the commands (the handler would say sit or down). She only ignored one or two commands which was great!!!! Andddddddd now Dahlia is on Breed Watch so she might become a Brood for GEB!!!! YAY!!!!! :D
In other news..... I know have Whitley!!!!!!! She is an adorable little black lab girl and I love her to pieces already!! She is GREAT in her kennel, she sleeps to 7:30, she loves to play and then sleep for hours, and she's really smart too!!!! Here is a picture of Miss Whitley!

Another change!
Well...... I am on a different litter again!!! The A310 litter didn't test too good sooooo now I am on the WW10 litter. Parents are Wren (YL) and Olaf (BL). Olaf is actually a working guide in FL! The pups were tested yesterday and Wednesday and they all passed! But I still don't know what puppy I'm getting! :( They were born on July 6th and the pups names are Wanda, Winetta, Whimsey, Whitley, Wonder, Woodruff, and Wilson. :)
Also, we are taking to GEB Willa (FBL), Miranda (FBL), and Leo (MYL) for their IFT and then we are taking Harvest, a PIT, to GEB for a medical thing. So we will have five dogs in the van to GEB!!! :)

Saturday - 1 Day
Today was my last day with the pups. We hung around the house all morning with Charlie and Bella (we are watching them this weekend). They went back to their house at about noon and then we soon went to the barn. After the barn we came back home and waited for people to come for Dahlia's good bye play date. Verity (released GEB pup), Narissa (5 month old golden), Leo (17 month old yellow lab), Gem (7 month old German Shepherd) and Erie (12 month old German Shepherd) all came over to play and they had did great together and had a blast! Now, I'm just waiting to (hopefully) hear from some other raisers who might come over for a little while, but we'll see if that happens (I sure hope it does!!!). I was going to take Dahlia for one last walk, but..... it's raining on and off and it's really cold so I'm not going to... :( Have a great night and I'll update once I get home.
Friday - 2 Days
We got up at about 8:00 and I took Dahlia for a one mile walk. Then we came home and she soon had a play date with Charlie and Bella. One, to exercise the dogs and two, so Charlie and Bella's people could say by to Dahlia because they are going camping this weekend. Then Dahlia slept for a while and then a little boy from my church came over to say by to Dahlia. Dahlia LOVES him sooo much! Everytime she would see him at church and would get so excited! Her tail would go a 100 mph and she would lick him to death! Then she slept some more and at about 1:00ish we left to pick up Halsa and then we went to the barn. My Oma and Opa met us there so they could say goodbye to Dahlia and Halsa too. After we went to Oma and Opa's we headed to the barn. Then we came home and at about 4:30 Pacer came over with his raiser for a final play date with him and Dahlia. All three pups had a lot of fun and now are VERY tired!
I'm going to try to take Dahlia (and maybe Halsa) for another walk tonight, if it doesn't rain. :) I really can't believe that tomorrow is my last full day with Dahlia. :(

Thursday - 3 Days
We got up early and left for the fair by 8:00. Again all of the dogs went into their kennels while we hung out. I did take Dahlia out some and walked her around some. Oh, also on Wednesday I walked her around the fair some too and she got to walk through the cow barn and chicken barn and I also met up with some friends for a short time on Wednesday. Anyway, back to Thursday, I got to be a "Ring Stewardess" and help with the Grooming and Handling B group. After I did that I hung out with the people I was with. Later, (while we waited forever for awards) some of us hung outside because it was WAY cooler out there! And we even got a group picture of all the GEB dogs! (I'll post it later). We had GEB German Shepherd Stud Rambler (his foster familys' son shows him in 4-H), GEB PIT Benji, GEB PIT Becka (Benji's sister), GEB PIT Emily, GEB PIT Diana, GEB PIT Gem, GEB PIT Dahlia, and GEB PIT Virgina!!!!! So we had EIGHT GEB dogs at State Fair!!! Wow! It was sooo much fun! :)
After we got the awards we went back to the 4-H Cynology Booth and then we took Diana, Gem, Dahlia, Virgina, and Benji for a walk around the fair since the ground was finally cool [we couldn't really walk them on Wednesday because the road was too hot for their paws :(]. We saw the sheep, took some pictures of the dogs, talked to a ton of people, and walked around for about an hour. Diana and Gem weren't with us the whole time though because their raisers had to get home. It was soooo much fun and Dahlia was SUCH a good girl! She does soooo good in highly distraction areas. :) My Mom, Dahlia, and I got home at about 9:30 and Dahlia laid around until I went to bed. We had an amazing time at State Fair and I can't wait for next year!!!

Wednesday - 4 Days left
We left the house at about 6:00. Once I got to State Fair I got Dahlia's kennel set up and in she went. I watched my 3 friends show their dogs and finally a few hours after lunch, it was time for the Service Dog Class!!!!!! I was showing Dahlia, my friend was showing her GEB pup Emily, and another GEB raiser was showing her pup Bekah! Dahlia and I got a 98 out of a possible 100! Dahlia did amazing!!! She was focused on me the WHOLE time (no lie!) and she didn't pull, she responded to commands and she just did amazing (she sniffed the ground once). I was soooo proud of her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After the show we headed back to the house I was staying at and all of the dog kennels got set up and all the dogs went into their kennels while us humans went swimming! BTW, at the house we had 10 dogs there!!!!!! Gem (7 month old GSD), Diana (7 month old GSD), Dahlia, Emily (14 month old yellow GLAB), Virgina (16 month old yellow lab), and Benji (10 month old yellow lab) are all GEB puppies in training. Wren is a released GEB pup (she is 7). And Blue (5 year old Border Collie), Max (3 year old Snoodle), and Star (Corgi) are all pets. All of the dogs did great and it was soooo much fun!!! Anyway, after we swam Dahlia, Diana, Gem, and Benji got to play in the kiddie pool and run around some. Then they all went back into their kennels for the night (except for one last "GB" break at 11:00). That was it for Wednesday! My camera won't download for some reason so you will have to wait for pictures!

Tuesday - 5 Days
Today Dahlia came to work with me at the library. She did sooooo good! When I was "stuck" in a section where I was going to be putting away a lot of books I would have her down stay and then she would fall asleep and then I would let her sleep while I worked around the shelves around her. :)
(Below: posing with a dog book) :)

After work we got Halsa and then headed to my riding lesson. This was their last riding lesson and they were really good. Dahlia barked some, but not too much and she even got nose to nose with a different horse than Abel and did go nuts! Yay! After my riding lesson we came back home for a little while and then we went back to the library so the librarians could say good bye.
