Month Day - Ben

Happy 11 months to Ben! I can't believe he is almost a year old! On his birthday (April 28th) we are having a birthday play date for him and three other dogs in my region. Werner and Aggie were born April 25th (two different litters), Ben was born April 28th, and Dino was born May 8th so they are all close together in age so we are having a group birthday play date for Werner, Aggie, Ben, and Dino and I invited Warsaw (Werner's brother), Almond (Aggie's sister), and Darrow (Dino's brother) and I hope to invite Barnes (Ben's brother). They are the only litter mates that live close enough to me to come and I hope they all can come!

First week

Here's just a bunch of random photos from our first week here. There are pictures of the Breed Evals, the Broods, the puppies, Teddy in the BDA, and Teddy in NYC. I went to NYC today and decided there was no way he would have the energy to walk the city all day so he stayed with a NYC puppy raiser and another GEB pup on program (named Amelia) and he got to walk around some of NYC with the puppy raiser. Our first week has been going great! I love it! It's soooo much fun and they asked me to stay an extra week. :) So I will be here until April 7th now.

IFT news

I found out that Toby has an IFT date for June 5th, 2012. I can't believe it's IFT time for him! I haven't seen him in 9 months and 1 day, but in 10 weeks and 6 days I'll get to see him at his IFT and give him lots of hugs and kisses and get lots of pictures of my boy! :) SOOOOO beyond excited!! :D :D :D Oh and his brother Tad is going IFT April 24th and his brother Taxi is going June 5th too. :) And his brother Tahoe is on Breed Eval right now and is at the BK so I see him every day.

Day 1 - Driving to GEB

So first, on February 25th Halsa's brother Harris graduated as a guide! Here's the blurp about him and his new partner. "Massachusetts resident David Moyer was matched with male yellow Lab Harris. David suffered a head injury in 1997 that left him totally blind.David majored in business at Cape Cod Community College. He grew up with a musician father and often composes songs to play on his collection of acoustic guitars. David’s previous dog Meyer seemed to enjoy listening to the music, and David is curious to see how Harris will respond.“Harris loves to pose in downward dog for minutes on end before settling down. I am looking forward to returning home and getting to know him further. I thought I wanted a shepherd and now I absolutely love having a Lab.”'
This morning Teddy and I left at about 7:30 and we got to Halsa's foster's house at about 11:45. We had lunch, they played, and we visited with each other for a few hours. It was so nice to see Halsa! And her fosters are great!!!!! They said anytime I'm going to GEB I can stop and visit them. :) :) :) I'm so glad they want to stay in touch! Here are the pictures her foster took and I'll try to post the ones I took tomorrow.

2 days!

Only two days until I leave for my two weeks at GEB! On Saturday I'm leaving between 7 and 7:30 and I will be stopping at Halsa's foster's house on the way there to see Halsa and meet her foster! I'm so very excited!! :) Then I'll drive the last two hours to GEB and start my volunteering on Sunday 7AM-4PM! I'll try to update my blog as much as possible, and the best part is at the end of the two weeks I get to visit Whitley! :)

Training Report!

I got another Training Report on Whitley! :) She is doing great! She is going to be having her first blind fold test soon and if she passes that she'll move onto training in another, busier, town. :) She started training on esculators and is doing well and she will also be starting to learn to take responsibility more instead of the trainer always telling her to do everything. The end of the comments said this "Whitley is a very bright girl who really enjoys being out working. She is a very popular dog in our group community run and is always seen playing with her friends." :) Go Whitley Go!!!!! :)

5 months

Teddy is 5 months old today! Here are 5 things Teddy knows

1. Sit Teddy came knowing sit as they teach the puppies how to sit at a very young age!
2. Down Teddy also pretty much knew down when he came.
3. Stand now we are just working on him standing up and not moving around especially towards my treat pouch!
4. His name Teddy sometimes tunes me out, but most of the time he makes eye contact when I say his name.
5. Kennel He is GREAT at kennel! He throws himself right into the kennel and waits for a treat. :)

Teddy and I are leaving this afternoon to go to GEB with two other raisers. We're just tagging along for the ride. Tomorrow is the March IFT tests so we will be spending the night in a hotel tonight and then heading to the training school at 8:00. IFTs are from 9-4 with a kennel tour at around 11 and then a lunch break. We are specifically going to see Rhonda and she is in heat so she gets tested at the very end, but that's kind of nice because I know some dogs that are also taking their tests that I want to see (Kenzie, Gracie, Josie, and Adeline). And on the kennel tour I'm hoping to see LOTS of dogs! We have Gabriel, Sadie, Hermie, Jamie, Nimble, and Molly from the Monroe Region. Then Whitley's siblings, Winetta, Wilson, Wonder, and Wanda. And other friends pups that are in training. And I might see my Whitley Jane! :)
